Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE) Program is a rapidly growing interdisciplinary program at the University of North Carolina that focuses on the intersection of the three disciplines in its title, where concerns for efficiency, and commitments to rights, justice, and liberty, are applied to social and political institutions. The PPE Program houses the international Philosophy, Politics & Economics Society, provides a regular influx of faculty on multi-year non-tenure track positions (which the program then works to place), offers an undergraduate PPE Minor, and runs an active extra-curricular program. The PPE Program is looking into offering either a PPE major or a five-year combined BA/MA PPE degree, developing a distinctive study abroad experience with two other universities, and cultivating an alumni/ae network and internship program. We will also be introducing a newly-funded PPE Distinguished Lecture Series.
