Tenure-track Assistant Professor - University of California, Irvine

The Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Early Modern philosophy and/or Kant and the Kantian tradition. Applicants with competence in social philosophy, philosophy of race, Latinx philosophy, or feminist philosophy are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 2024.

The online application includes: a cover letter, curriculum vitae, dissertation abstract, research statement, writing sample (20-30 pages), a teaching statement, inclusive excellence activities statement, and three reference letters upon request. Review of applications will begin November 15, 2023 and continue until the position is filled (start date is July 1, 2024). Applications completed by November 30, 2023 will be granted full consideration.

This statement should:
​Indicate the candidate’s teaching experiences to date, including experience with teaching undergraduates/graduate students, or other populations, as well as their areas of interest. This should also include mentorship that they have given to others in the line of research or outreach activities.


​Detail the candidate’s teaching approaches and philosophies, as to how they will engage in effective teaching strategies.
