The Roger Mudd Center for Ethics seeks candidates for the 2023-2025 Mudd Center for Ethics Postdoctoral Fellowship. Postdoctoral fellows will be expected to teach three undergraduate courses during the year, typically including one course in the fall, one course in the winter, and one course in the 4-week spring term. At least two of these courses should align with the Mudd Center’s programmatic theme for the year. Courses are chosen in consultation with the Director. In addition, the Mudd Ethics Fellow will be expected to assist with administrative duties within the Mudd Center, participate in all Mudd Center activities, interact with and advise undergraduates affiliated with the Mudd Center, and help foster an interdisciplinary ethics community across the College, the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics, and the School of Law.
The Division of the Humanities and the College of the University of Chicago invite applications for appointment as Assistant Instructional Professor to teach in the Master of Arts Program in the Humanities (MAPH) and in a relevant department. The application is open to individuals with a specialty in any field in the humanities who also have the ability to teach in the MAPH curriculum; we particularly encourage applicants with a background in either Philosophy or Art History to apply. The start date of the appointment will be September 1, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. Appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Instructional Professor for an initial term of two years with reappointment and progression possible following review. Responsibilities include both teaching and service duties. Teaching consists of five courses per academic year: one section of the MAPH Core Course “Foundations of Interpretive Theory;” one section of the MAPH thesis preparation course in the Winter and Spring Quarters; two additional courses in a department relevant to the selected candidate’s expertise.
The Philosophy Department at Colgate University invites applications for two one-year visiting assistant professor positions, both beginning fall semester 2023. Position #1: AOS: Open. AOC: Environmental Ethics. Position #2: AOS: Open. AOC: Open, but the department has teaching needs in philosophy of race, non-Western philosophy, and Kant and 19th Century Philosophy. All applications received will be considered for both positions. Teaching load for each position is five courses per year. Completion of the Ph.D. in philosophy is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire.
