The Ethics Institute at Dartmouth College invites applications for the Burt Dorsett ‘53 postdoctoral
fellow in ethics. The Dorsett fellowship program supports new scholars whose research addresses questions of ethics from a range of perspectives in moral philosophy, political philosophy, applied ethics, professional ethics or philosophy of law. This is a two-year residential fellowship program. For the duration of the fellowship, Dorsett fellows are expected to pursue independent research while participating in the intellectual life of the Ethics Institute. This includes participating in the Institute’s annual moral and political philosophy workshop where both junior and senior scholars come to campus to discuss new work in ethics. The Dorsett fellow will also participate in the Institute’s annual student fellowship program by discussing their own research with our undergraduate fellows. The Dorsett fellow will also teach a course related to ethics in the second year.Fellows receive an annual stipend of approximately $57,960 plus benefits and an allocation for research expenses (exact funding levels will be set at the time of offer). The fellow will also join the broader community of postdoctoral research fellows that includes the Provost’s Fellowship Program, Dartmouth Society of Fellows, the John Sloan Dickey Fellows, the Neukom Institute Fellows, the Rockefeller Center Fellows, the Quantitative Social Sciences Fellows, and the Mellon Postdoctoral Fellows in the Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences. The Marywood University Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Philosophy to begin August 2022. Area of Specialization should be in Social and Political Philosophy, with expertise in Climate Justice or Environmental Justice and the ability to contribute to our university’s new Environmental Studies program. Area of Competence is open, with preference given to candidates who can teach courses and advise students in our department’s Certificate Program in Bioethics (including our course on Healthcare and Social Justice). We would also view candidates favorably whose teaching or research intersects with Latinx Studies and/or Black Studies. The Political Economy Project (PEP) at Dartmouth College seeks applications for a full-time one-year renewable postdoctoral fellowship with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2022. We seek qualified candidates who work on social/political philosophy, ethics, and/or history of political thought, all broadly construed. PEP is an interdisciplinary initiative focused on normative questions at the intersection of politics, economics, and philosophy. The majority of the fellow’s time will be devoted to independent research. The fellow will teach two courses per year in either the Government or Philosophy Departments, at least one of which will be an introductory-level course related to political economy. The fellow is expected to attend and actively assist in planning PEP events and otherwise participate in PEP's intellectual life and the Government Department or Philosophy Department during the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. The selected candidate will hold an appointment as a Lecturer in either the Government Department or Philosophy Department and as a Postdoctoral Fellow in PEP. The initial appointment will be for one academic year, with the expectation of renewal for one further year assuming good performance.
