Pomona College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in the Department of Philosophy at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2024.
AOS: Epistemology or Metaphysics. AOC: introductory logic, and otherwise open. We have an interest in candidates whose teaching interests make contact with issues of societal relevance, such as social epistemology or social metaphysics. We are looking for a candidate who can help us broaden the major and attract students from a variety of backgrounds, and welcome discussion of this in the teaching or mentoring statements. Ph.D. prior to appointment strongly preferred. Teaching load is 2-2; class size is typically under 20 students. Applications should contain a cover letter, CV, graduate transcripts, at least three letters of recommendation, writing sample, evidence of teaching effectiveness (preferably from multiple courses), and three statements addressing your i) teaching ii) scholarship, including your future directions, and iii) demonstrated ability to mentor a diverse student body (Inclusive Excellence at Pomona).
