Tenure-track position, Queens College CUNY (Environmental Philosophy)

10/4/2021

The Department of Philosophy at Queens College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor in the field of Environmental Philosophy, to begin in Fall 2022. We seek candidates with a strong scholarly background who are committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and identified with the mission of Queens College and the City University of New York.

The person appointed will teach (i) introductory and advanced courses in Environmental Philosophy, including courses co-listed with the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences and the Environmental Studies program; (ii) elective courses for Philosophy majors and minors; and (iii) general education courses offered by the Department. The teaching load for faculty is 3/3, reduced by 8 courses in the first five years. The Department will consider candidates with any area of teaching competence outside Environmental Philosophy but will give preference to those whose strengths complement rather than duplicate current offerings. The successful applicant is expected to maintain an active research agenda and to participate in the department’s advising and service responsibilities.

CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.

CUNY encourages people with disabilities, minorities, veterans and women to apply. At CUNY, Italian Americans are also included among our protected groups. Applicants and employees will not be discriminated against on the basis of any legally protected category, including sexual orientation or gender identity. EEO/AA/Vet/Disability Employer.
