University of Chicago, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, First or Second Term
Description AOS: At least one of Kant, 19th-Century German Philosophy, 20th-Century Continental Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, Non-Western Philosophy, Philosophy of Race and Racism, Philosophy of Sex and Gender, and Feminist Philosophy AOC: Open, preferably one of the above Minimum teaching load of four courses/year over three quarters, graduate and undergraduate levels, and usual dissertation, committee, and advising responsibilities. Qualifications The department invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor, first or second term, from candidates specializing in any of the areas listed above. We seek a colleague with an ambitious research agenda yielding active and innovative scholarship, characterized by cogency of argument, knowledge of the literature, and originality of interpretation. Successful applicants will contribute to the scholarly community of the department and university, and have the ability or potential to be an excellent teacher in the university’s core curriculum, in introductory to advanced undergraduate courses in Philosophy, and in graduate courses related to their area of expertise. The expected start date for the position is July 1, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter. All requirements for receipt of a doctoral degree in Philosophy or related field must be completed by the start of the appointment.
