Description The Department of Philosophy in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions at the rank of assistant professor beginning in fall semester 2019. Successful applicants will have expertise in feminist theory, philosophy of race, or non- western philosophy. In addition, we welcome applications from those who complement current department strengths and have the ability and interest required to teach logic, philosophy of mathematics, or ancient philosophy at the graduate level. Aimed at promoting diversity in the department, the profession, and the academy, our new strategic plan focuses on supporting intellectual inclusivity and heterogeneity at all levels. These include the content we teach; the demographics of our undergraduate, graduate, and faculty populations; and the research activities we engage in and support. We will thus look to successful applicants to play an integral role in the ongoing evolution and implementation of this initiative. The Department will assess candidates according to overall academic preparation, the relevance of their research to the department’s academic priorities and identified fields of inquiry, evidence or promise of becoming a leading researcher, evidence of commitment to teaching and skills as a teacher, evidence of ability to mentor members of a diverse student body, and strength of recommendations.
