The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in philosophy at the rank of assistant professor. Get more details and apply here.

We seek a candidate interested in developing competence in the study of the moral and political ramifications of technology. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of scholarly research, develop and teach undergraduate courses, and contribute to service appropriate to the rank of assistant professor.

The department’s teaching load is five undergraduate courses per year, which will include courses in the faculty member’s specialty, as well as, sections of Philosophy of Technology, a course required for computer science majors.

We seek candidates who share in our mission of achieving excellence through diversity, inclusion, and equity. A Ph.D in philosophy must be conferred by the start date of the appointment.

Very big and deep thought, forced me to think about what we are doing with us now. We can’t predict future but we can invent it. If we are searching life on mars, then why not we first try to preserve life on earth.
