Our philosophy department embodies an intertraditional approach to philosophy: we engage in work within and between philosophical traditions, aiming to build a philosophical culture where sub-disciplinary boundaries are less important than the resources traditions provide for addressing concrete practices and problems. The philosophy department offers a major and minor, a Graduate Certificate in Applied Ethics, and an M.A. in Ethics and Applied Philosophy. Based in the Office of Interdisciplinary Studies, the Women’s and Gender Studies Program has approximately 175 students across the undergraduate minor, the associated concentration in the Interdisciplinary Studies major, and the Early Entry and Graduate Certificate programs. The four-course Graduate Certificate in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies can be earned in conjunction with graduate work or through a freestanding course of study not linked to a graduate degree. It exposes students from a variety of disciplines to the core theories and approaches used in the studies of women, sexuality, and gender, which include masculinity, feminism, and sexuality. The Women’s and Gender Studies Program also offers an Early Entry Program through which undergraduates can earn the Certificate prior to graduation. Setting.
