The Philosophy Department at the University of Missouri is seeking applications for the Florence G. Kline Chair in Philosophy, a generously endowed professorship, from candidates with outstanding scholarly records and success in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring.
 
The Philosophy Department, which has longstanding MA and PhD programs, and which offers both BA and BS degrees, provides a collegial and supportive environment for research and teaching.  The successful candidate will join 12 regular faculty colleagues, all with active research programs.  The Department maintains, and seeks to expand, links with other academic units on campus.
 
The Department seeks to recruit an outstanding philosopher whose excellent professional reputation will attract students to its graduate programs.
 
The Department welcomes applications from qualified candidates at the current rank of associate as well as full professor, with any combination of AOS and AOC.  
 
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • A PhD in philosophy or equivalent
  • Record of peer-reviewed publication (for their career stage) 
  • Research agenda 
  • Record, or significant promise, as a mentor of graduate students
  • Record of effective teaching
