Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Philosophy seeks qualified candidates for an appointment as Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2022. The Department of Philosophy has 33 full-time faculty serving 177 majors and is located on the university’s Lakeshore Campus. For more information about the department, please visit its web site at https://www.luc.edu/philosophy/index.shtml.
Located on Chicago’s vibrantly multicultural North Side, LUC is committed to creating an inclusive, responsive community of faculty, students, and staff. As an urban-based Department of Philosophy dedicated to mentoring a diverse student body, many of whom come from under-represented and under-served populations, we especially encourage applications from candidates from under-represented groups. We also encourage applications from scholars committed to interdisciplinarity (i.e., working with colleagues across different subfields and disciplines) and the successful pursuit of external grants. This Department seeks a specialist in Moral Theory, who will contribute to our Graduate and Undergraduate programs in Philosophy. The candidate should have demonstrated success as a teacher, and promise as a scholar and mentor in moral philosophy. Teaching duties will be a mix of graduate and undergraduate courses.
Job duties will also include service work and advising and mentoring of students.
