The Department of Philosophy and the College of the University of Chicago seek an experienced teacher of Philosophy to help build on the strengths of its existing program. We are interested in candidates with a strong record of teaching Ancient Greek Philosophy, especially Ancient Greek Theoretical Philosophy, to undergraduates, with a preference for candidates with additional experience in teaching and/or ability to teach more broadly in the History of Philosophy, in Ethics, and in Metaphysics. Responsibilities include both teaching and service duties. Teaching consists of up to seven courses across three quarters in various areas of the Philosophy curriculum, and may include assignments in the College Core. The selected candidate will also be expected to take on appropriate service duties within the department, including advising BA and MA theses in their area of specialty. Instructional Professors of all ranks are expected to engage in regular professional development.
